Black Canary/Oracle Wedding Spectacular! Part One
Title: The Black Canary/Oracle Wedding Special Part 1: The Proposal
Fandom: Birds of Prey
Rating: PG
Characters: Barbara/Dinah, Helena, Misfit.
Summary: Barbara wants Dinah to look at something down at the docks. What will Dinah's reaction be?
Author's Notes: The idea for this fic came from me reading all of the Green Arrow/Black Canary nonsense and thinking about how much better Babs would be at marrying Dinah. So I wrote this. There will be more! Thanks, as always, to my beta,
julius12.
“Black Canary, I need you to look at something at the docks. It’s really, really important,” Barbara Gordon said, her voice crackling into life in Dinah’s earpiece.
Dinah Lance blinked. “Okay, sure, O. What am I looking for?”
“I’ll get back to you in a moment, Black Canary. Huntress is beeping in. Just go.”
Dinah frowned. Babs may be one of the most cryptic women ever, but she usually explained what was going on. At least, she usually told Dinah what to prepare for.
Still, she trusted Barbara, so she turned her motorcycle, took a left, and headed down to the docks.
“Huntress, you have Canary’s patrol covered?” Barbara asked.
“Sure,” Helena Bertinelli told her. “I can’t believe you’re finally proposing to Canary.”
Barbara smiled. “Thanks a lot, Huntress. Oracle out.”
Barbara pushed the button to terminate her conversation with Helena. She frowned and pushed another button.
“Misfit,” she said.
“Yeah?” Charlie said from behind her.
Barbara only barely refrained from yelping.
“Don’t do that, Misfit!” she said, turning to glare at the girl. “I’ve got a really important assignment for you.”
Misfit grinned. “Really? A mission? That’s so totally awesome! My own mission! Who do I beat up?”
Barbara shook her head. “Not that kind of mission, Charlie. I need you to set these candles,” she held out a bag, “into the windows I have marked on this chart.”
Misfit looked at the chart, lips moving slightly as she read. Then she looked up at Barbara. “Oooh, you’re-”
Barbara nodded. “Dinah’s heading there now. Go on.”
Misfit grinned and saluted. “You can count on me, Oracle!”
“Come in, O,” Dinah said. “I’m almost at the Docks. What am I…oh my god.”
“Do you like it?” Barbara said.
“Like it? I- I don’t know what to say!”
Certain windows in an abandoned warehouse were lit up to spell out Marry me, BC? –O
“Say yes?”
“Of course I’ll marry you, Babs. I love you.”
“I love you too, Dinah. Look in the secret compartment on your motorcycle.”
Dinah pressed the release button, and pulled out a jewelry box. In it was a diamond ring.
“Made by our favorite Man of Steel as a favor,” Babs said. “So no workers were even exploited for it.”
“It’s perfect, Oracle.”
“You know, Huntress has your patrol covered, and Misfit’s actually not doing too badly at pretending to be a shadowy genius. Want to come home and…celebrate?”
Dinah gunned the engines. “On my way, Babs.”
