Jun. 19th, 2008 01:12 amSo I've been thinking.
When I write a fic, I'll usually list the characters like this:
Pairing: person/person, person/person, person, person, person.
(It should be noticed that all those persons are different people.)
However, sometimes I hesitate. For instance, in the second part of Spoiled, there was one character whose appearance I didn't list because I wanted it to be a surprise at the end. I'm really glad I did it because I think the story would have been nowhere near as good if you weren't taken by surprise there.
But now I'm thinking, maybe it'd always be better to do it that way. I mean, sure, you'd want to know if you were going to read an NC-17 Mallah/Brain piece, but if you were going to read about a sordid love octagon between Tim Drake, Bart Allen, Kon-El, Cassie Sandsmark, and Bette Kane, would you really want to know that at the end Kon and Bette end up together while Cassie and Bart start a relationship and Tim ends up dating Jubilee? It'd be nowhere near as interesting!
So I made a poll.
[Poll #1207272][Poll #1207272]
I'm kind of leaning towards putting just the characters (not the pairings) in the header and putting the pairings in the tags as I usually do for easier finding and so that people who are really curious can figure it out pretty quickly.
So what do you think?
