Author's Notes: Pour [livejournal.com profile] le_mouton! Elle veut Bart/Tim dans Smallville. C'est un challenge interresant. Also, for some reason Smallville Robin is Asian in my head. No idea why.

Bart Allen halted at the edge of Gotham City and pulled down his hood. "Green Arrow, I'm here, do you read me?"

"Loud and clear," Oliver Queen said. "Have you located Wayne Manor yet?"

"Um," Bart vanished in a blur and stopped in front of the large mansion. "Yes. Why are we breaking in here again? Wayne seems harmless."

"He's friends with Lex," Ollie said. "I don't think Wayne would intentionally help him, but he might be manipulated."

"Okay," Bart said. "And what about Batman?"

"Doesn't exist," Ollie said.

"How do you know? People have seen him!" Bart insisted.

"People have seen a lot of things. In any case, don't worry about it. I've got to go back and join the party now. Keep Wayne occupied and everything. Be careful."

"Right, Impulse out," Bart said. He pulled his hood back up.

He zoomed into Wayne Manor and found Bruce Wayne's office in an instant. He plugged the thumbdrive in and started transferring files. He wished they didn't take so long to load. He got antsy being still for so long.

Finally, done. Bart pulled the thumb drive out of his computer. Time to go. He turned around.

He woke up groggy and tied to a chair. With some kind of rope that resisted his attempts to vibrate free.

Whoever had done this really knew their stuff.

"Ah, you're awake," someone said from the shadows. Bart strained his eyes but couldn't see anyone. "That didn't take much time at all, Bart."

"Who are you?" Bart said. "How do you know who I am?"

A young man with a black mask stepped out of the shadows. He wore an open dark leather jacket with a yellow R on the front. His shirt was dark red and he wore dark green pants that looked sort of like jeans but a lot tougher.

There was a yellow bat on his sleeve.

"Grife," Bart said. "Are you Batman?"

The man smirked. "Batman? No. I'm Robin."

"You'll never get away with it," Bart said. "Whatever it is."

"Me?" Robin said. "You're the one who broke into Wayne Manor!"

"Where's my commlink?"

"This?" Robin held it up. "Your green friend's been calling you for quite a while."

"They'll come for me," Bart said. "I know it."

"Mmm, yes. Do you think Clark Kent will come? My partner has been wanting to meet him for ages."

"Who's Clark Kent?" Bart said quickly.

"Strong, almost as fast as you, farm boy...sound familiar?"

"You can't know all that!" Bart said.

"I know a lot," Robin said. "What I don't know is why you were engaging in corporate espionage. Bruce Wayne and Oliver Queen have always been on decent terms. Any reason why Queen decided to send a minion in?"

"I'm not a minion," Bart said. "And we were worried that Wayne's going to strike some kind of deal with Luthor."

"I can guarantee that if Wayne does strike a deal with Luthor, it will be with intention to keep Luthor from doing more evil. We don't need your kind – "

Clark came crashing through the wall.

In a moment, Robin had a lead box open and was holding it out in front of him.

Clark jerked back. Bart couldn't see what was inside the box, but it was pretty easy to guess.

"You're one and a half minutes earlier than I expected," Robin said. "I don't want to hurt you."

"Run!" Bart yelled.

"Impulse!" Clark said. "If you've hurt him – "

"I knocked him out and tied him to a chair. He'll be fine. Now, sit down, and I'll put away the kryptonite."

"How do you know – "

"We all have secrets," Robin said. "Some of us are better at keeping them than others. Now, sit. My partner will be here soon, and he'd be incredibly disappointed to miss you."

Clark slowly made his way over to the chair next to Bart, being careful to keep as much distance from the kryptonite as possible.

Robin snapped the case shut.

"How come I'm tied up and he isn't?" Bart complained.

"We don't have chains made of kryptonite, and if we did, there would be too high a risk of fatality," Robin said. "And he's not a criminal."

"I'm not either!"

"We've got records that say otherwise."

"Okay, I'm not anymore."

"And yet I caught you breaking and entering."

"You were breaking and entering too!"

"Mmm."

"Bart really isn't a thief anymore," Clark said. "He's changed."

"Yeah, the last thing I stole was a pair of Clark's boxers, and that was a month ago!"

"Wait, what?" Clark said.

"Um," Bart said. "I can return them? Also, is everything you own a primary color? Because that's weird, dude."

"I like primary colors!" Clark said. "There's nothing wrong with that!"

"Right," Bart said.

"If you two are done," Robin said. "Batman's here."

"I knew he was real!" Bart said.

"Yes," Batman said from directly behind him. Bart jumped and winced as the ropes yanked his shoulders. Batman walked around him. He was wearing a black trench coat with the same yellow bat symbol on the sleeve and a strange black mask that covered most of his face. "Untie Allen. Everything he's stolen has been returned or compensated for. I'd imagine that it's thanks to Queen."

"Um," Bart said as Robin deftly untied his arms. "How do you know that?"

Batman didn't answer. He was busy looking at Clark. "You are something else entirely, alien."

"How do you know these things?" Clark asked. "I've been so careful – "

Batman snorted. "Careful, right."

Clark squinted. X-Ray vision. Then his eyes widened. "You're Bruce Wayne!"

Behind Bart, Robin's breath hitched, but Batman didn't bat an eye. "Bruce Wayne. What exactly gave you that idea?"

"X-Ray vision," Clark said.

Robin snorted. Batman glared at him. "How come we didn't know about this?"

"I did all the research I could," Robin said. "None of my sources mentioned it."

Batman pulled off the cowl.

"So do all rich guys lead exciting double lives? Or is it just all the ones I know?" Bart said. "What's next, is Ted Kord gonna be bitten by a radioactive cockroach?"

Bruce Wayne frowned and glanced at Robin. "That reminds me. Figure out what Kord's been up to lately."

"Sure," Robin said. "Should I – "

"And get Allen out of here. Clark, we've got to talk."

"Um," Clark said. "What are you going to do with Bart?"

Bruce gave him a withering stare. "What do you think? We're letting him go."

"And not me?"

"I told you, we have to talk."

"Come on," Robin said. "They'll be a while."

Bart stood up and followed him out of the cave. "Hey, can I ask a question?"

"You just did."

"You said he was your partner, but he acted like your boss."

"Hmm."

"So which one is he? Boss or partner?"

"Partner who acts like a boss," Robin said shortly.

"So then why – "

"Okay, you have to stop now."

"Sorry," Bart said. "Hey, who are you?"

Robin hesitated. "I guess if you know who Batman is, it doesn't matter if you know who I am too." He pulled off his mask and held out a hand. "Tim Drake. Nice to meet you."

"Cool," Bart said, shaking his hand. "I'm Bart. But you already knew that. Hey, you look like you're my age!"

"I am," Tim said. "Well, a year older."

"But closer than the rest of them are!" Bart said. "This is so cool! Want to hang out some time?"

"I think I'm busy most of the time."

"Aww," Bart said. "But could I, like, visit or something?"

"Maybe," Tim said. "We're nearing the exit of the cave."

"We could, like, team-up! Do you guys fight Lex Luthor too?"

"There are other guys worse than Luthor out there," Tim said. "We've got our own villains to take care of. You couldn't handle them."

"Oh yeah?" Bart said. "Just try me! I could take them on! I could at least try!"'

"Maybe," Tim said. "Good bye, Bart."

"Good bye? But we're not – " He turned and looked to see...no one. "Tim?" he said.

No one could move too fast or him to see. That wasn't possible. But Tim was definitely gone, and Bart could see the exit to the cave.

Oh well. Hopefully he'd see Robin again. Either way, it was time to run.
