I've been failing hard at fanfic lately.
First I've been not writing any, but that's not new. I haven't been reading much, either. My brain's just not in the right place, and there are so many novels and such that I want. And then there's fandom itself. I find myself interested in fewer and fewer things. And even the things I am interested in, I just... don't get to. I've got about 19
aravistarkheena fics that I've been eagerly awaiting and, in some cases, pestering for, but I've been an asshole and still haven't read them. Though I WILL get to them!
It's Buffy's fault. I'm obsessed with something that's not comics for once. Don't worry, I'll never abandon comics completely, but instead of more lack of fic, there might be Buffy fic coming up.
In fact, I'm doing lonely prompts right now. All Buffy, some SPN thrown in. I'm working on some DC too, so there'll be at least one of those when I'm done.
Um, people can link me to particularly great prompts I may not have seen if they want. Whatever. At least I'm writing again.
Oh! And I'm 20 in 15 days!

Date: 2010-04-11 05:06 am (UTC)And I've barely read anything fandom that isn't band!AU in months. I'm sort of glad to know I am not the only one ^_^;
And I look forward to your Buffy, SPN and DC comment_fics, even though I barely visit comment_fic anymore.
And yay for turning 20!

Date: 2010-04-11 06:21 am (UTC)Well, if it helps, I will be posting them to my LJ. Or at least links. It'll be fun.

Date: 2010-04-11 02:45 pm (UTC)I know, I've read a lot of the Buffy comics. But I wouldn't call it a comics fandom. The comics are part of the fandom, which is based on a TV show, if that makes sense.

Date: 2010-04-11 10:06 pm (UTC)That does make sense. It's like how I'll write about X-Men cartoon 'verses, but it's still a comics fandom to me.

Date: 2010-04-11 01:20 pm (UTC)I'm 27 in four days. I'm old.
I think I have my first non-comic fandom obsession in ever, too - "How to Train Your Dragon". There may be fic.

Date: 2010-04-11 11:18 pm (UTC)I totally get the brain not being in the right place AND the distracting novels. I'm totally getting back into the Amelia Peabody series. Fuck I forgot how much I love these novels. So fucking good. You should reeeeeead them Shana. Then we can fangirl. :D
Also, I'm a firm believer in reading fic when you have the time to enjoy it. It shouldn't be a chore.
All that matters to me is that it makes you smile, Shana. <3

Date: 2010-04-12 12:00 am (UTC)Oooh, tell me more! No, wait, don't. Tell me more in several months when I don't have school and can start reading all these novels piling up next to me! Because right now I can NOT afford to get interested in a new series type thing. I just don't have time. Do you have any idea how much it kills me to say that? God I hate college. No more lit courses. From now on, I read only what I want to read.
<3 D'aww. Well, at least I'm writing some fic finally? You'd probably like the Tim/Cissie one I wrote. I don't know if you're into Buffy which is what the other 13 all are, but hey. Also, I need to write more. I'm winning right now, but I think someone's probably gonna post like, twenty at once JUST to spite me soon.

Date: 2010-04-12 01:11 am (UTC)I totally understand. Let me know when you're done. I have at least TWO series of novels that are FANTASTIC and I'm sure you'll love. No one in fandom really reads BOOKS, you know? Everyone just reads fic. So I'm left with no one to fan girl over novels with. It's heartbreaking, really.
I'm sure I will. Are you going to link them in your journal at all? I'm not so into Buffy. I watched the first season and decided it was terrible. So I gave up.
GOOD LUCK ON THE CHALLENGE! I'm going to try and write some next week for Rex's hosting thing.

Date: 2010-04-12 01:19 am (UTC)Oh man, I WANT. Right now I'm trying to finish up the Percy Jackson novels, which are light but fun, and the Dresden Files. Then I've got a stack of Robin Mckinley books and a random novel my teacher gave me. Also, I want to reread Narnia because we're gonna run an RP based off them. Well, sort of based off them. It's complicated and awesome. And oh my GOD why don't I have more time in my life? Nnngh. We should make a book club. We can like, read books and have chatrooms. It'd be beautiful.
I will definitely link them. I'll probably repost some of them too, depending on how much I like them on reread.
And GASP. You can't quit after the first season! Of course you'd think it sucks if you stop there! The later seasons are absolutely amazing, I promise. It's worth sticking with it. And Spike is really attractive and amazing, plus you'll like Faith, I think, and there are LEATHER PANTS, Bek, lots of them! And MUSICALS. And LESBIANS. And oh my god I'm gonna watch more. I did warn you I'm obsessive, right? But I promise I only get this obsessive about things that really are that good.
THANKS! Heee, that'll be fun. I'll leave prompts! That aren't all Buffy!
